Dark Kniiiiight!

Holy cow was that movie dark. o.o Prepare to be depressed after seeing it. However, the effects were amazing! Some of the fight scenes were kinda boring, and it was hard to see what was going on, but...I guess that fit with the whole theme of the movie? Chaos? When that movie had moments, and there were many, they were spontaneous and perfectly timed. I definitely liked Dent's and Gordon's roles the best. But that's just personal preference. (There was also something eerily fascinating about watching Two-Face's exposed cheek muscles move when he talked. That must be the anatomy nut in me.)

I'm already thinking up parody comics. XD Since I don't have my own computer, expect them to be hand-drawn. Oh...I may even dip into my Prismacolor pencils again. Goodness knows I have enough free time.... THE STAFF AGENCY HASN'T CALLED ME BACK YET!

In other news, I have gotten hooked on Animated Batman! XD His reaction to this movie was the exact same one I had with Transformers. Yes! I am an enabler! I gave him all 5 seasons last night, but according to AIM he's not online. Which means he probably tore himself away long enough to go to work. Good on 'ya, man.

I also rented Batman: Gotham Knight today. Basically it's the Animatrix of Batman. And it's pretty freakin' sweet. They got 5 famous Japanese directors and animation studios to do 6 shorts that fit loosely between Batman Begins and Dark Knight. But they're so much more than movie filler. I've already seen it once, and watched the commentary.
They even got Kevin Conroy back to do the voice of Batman! (He played the role all through the various animated series and Justice League.) Having the same cast of actors through all the shorts really helps blend together the different animation styles. Even pretty-boy Bruce (and his alter-ego GatchaBatman) seems plausible. It starts out a little slow, focusing on secondary characters' focal points on the caped crusader. But then it picks up with some great psychological insight and killer action sequences. My favorite short is definitely the last one, with Deadshot. It inspired me to draw Tulweipio again. :3
If you're a bat-fan, I'd definitely recommend this one.

So I have an announcement to make. My computer is officially at the shop, and it'll take at least 4 days until they can even get around to looking at it. I wanted to finally know why the heck it was having seizures all the time. I'm not sure what they'll find but for $75 freaking dollars they better find something. I've been dealing with this problem for a year and a half, and none of my techie friends at school could figure it out completely. So we'll see. Until then, I'm stuck on my family's POS computer if I want internet. I hooked up my external hard drive with all my downloaded TV shows to my brother's Xbox 360, but it won't even play half of them because it doesn't have the correct codecs! I was right in the middle of watching Spider-man TAS too... *sniff*

But! I have good news! and I are going to see Dark Knight Returns on opening night tomorrow! *hops up and down* I am soooo excited YOUHAVENOIDEA. Now the only thing that can make this better is if I find a copy of Batman Begins to watch before then as a refresher. I want to try all channels before I go up to the local video store and rent the thing. Because I am a broke college student.

Speaking of movies, dragged me to Wall-E on Sunday. Well, I wanted to go, so "dragged" isn't the right word. But I didn't expect him to be so excited about it. O.o It was probably the cutest thing I've ever seen. Robot luv!

Um...actual news... I got hired at a temp agency and so far have had one assignment. All hand-addressing envelopes, stuffing envelopes, etc. *sigh* But it's money. I got word of a longer one, but they might not accept me because I'm leaving in September. We'll see.

Oh, and I don't like wine.

Ok, this is getting pretty insane. I read a news article yesterday that major American cities are selling off pieces of public road to private companies, even ones outside the country! It's supposed to be because those companies can cough up better funding to fix neglected roadways and bridges. And the rent will be used by the government to fix more roads and bridges. And besides, European countries have been doing this for years.
But doesn't anyone care they they're selling America? This is exactly what private companies are trying to do to the internet! Some companies will be raising tolls on roads they own, just to get another buck. They're already there, can't we drive on them?

And in case you guys think I'm getting any less geeky, I got a deluxe Animated Ratchet today after hitting up every temp agency in a 10-mile radius.
(It seems the mood icons are busted again, so I can't change mine back from "obsessed.")

So my dentist officially sucks. I've suspected it for years because every time I go back there seems to be a filling that's fallen out. Now, I know they're not supposed to last forever, but one every 6-12 months? That's a little suspect. It doesn't help that I hate these new fillings. The chemical ones they inject onto your tooth and then bake dry with a little UV gun? (Which always has a tinted guard for the dentist, I may add.) I hate them because they taste like chemical shit, burn your mouth like acid, and you don't notice when they pop off because they're small, white, and brittle.
But after this last trip to the dentist I am convinced we need to change. For some reason one of my molars is now uber-sensitive, and I think they messed up the filling they put on it. Any little pressure put on the top part of said filling results in a weird feeling. Not exactly pain, more like intense cold. Cold liquids only affect it a fraction of the time, and burning alcohol? Listerine is fine. *sigh* I go back in tomorrow and have it looked at.
And just 10 minutes ago another one of my fillings came out. One they just put in a week ago. Arghleflarglrargl!

On a lighter note, I recently joined a TF/Mech Exchange group on LJ. You who watch my scraps might see some new Blackwing reference material in the next few weeks. You add your character to the club list, and get someone else's character every month to draw or write about. I even got a TF:A themed one in the very first round. X3 I'm excited to see what people do with Blackwing.

I go back to the temp agencies on Thursday because the pub hasn't called me back. DX I've been getting ready for office jobs by working up a nicer wardrobe. It's been hell on my bank account. I'm also going to try the hobby shops in the area. It wouldn't hurt to work retail with fellow geeks, right?

Dang a lot happened since last journal. My schedule went straight from Hell-Week to finals week to my vacation with , in which I was hardly ever on the internet. We had lots of fun though. Ate lots of barbecue, saw some neat places in KC, and went piano-bar-hopping with my cousin. Watched a lot of Spider-man too. Yesterday was spent watching the entire second season, which is in itself one huge arc. Also my favorite arc.
I'm proud to say my GPA is back up to scholarship level! I got a B- on my history paper and my presentation grades in Lab were enough to keep my grade there a solid C. Which is all I can really hope for in physics these days. Japanese once again helped pad my GPA. For a few days after I got home I kept having dreams about some huge school project I was supposed to do. o.o; I guess my brain was still in school mode, heh. But the week vacation helped.
Since turning 21 I have tried various liquors and such, and also wasted some money on things I didn't end up liking. I should've gotten the Irish coffee with Bailey's instead of whiskey. *headdesk* The most surprising thing I've liked was Boulevard Wheat, a beer brewed locally here where I live. I had a sip of Dad's on Father's Day, and a few seconds after the intense aftertaste of wheat, I got to thinking I could get used to it. But Blue Moon and Guinness are no good. Except in brownies in the case of the latter. ^__^ The problem with me in bars is that I want to try something new, but if I haven't had it I don't know what the name is. And now I'm paranoid about wasting money on something I potentially won't like.
But on the bright side of things, TF:Animated toys have finally starting showing up in stores! I got a deluxe Prowl today, since they didn't have any Ratchets out. He's next to my monitor right now, crouched and ready for action. I even went to the store by myself! *gasp* But Blackwood should still be ready for the day when Soundwave shows up. *determined look*
Ohmygosh! I almost forgot about the movie Firra and I saw on Saturday. We were going to see Get Smart, but got to the theater late, and so saw The Incredible Hulk instead. It was better than expected! And the end! Eeeee! I have never been so proud of my ability to recognize voices. Make sure you see Iron Man first.
