Physics Stamp by SSJMihoshi Physics Stamp by SSJMihoshi
Back when I first got my subscription I couldn't find a physics stamp that I liked. So I decided to make one of my own. The free gif program I found messed up the shine, so I had to take it off. But I still think it's a pretty kickass stamp.

If you know what the first 2 pictures reference, you are qualified to truly use this stamp.

FOR SCIENCE!

All pictures found on Google Images.

the first pic is particle tracks or something like that.
and the second pic is a diagramm of a collision inside one of the LHC detectors - i forgot which.
I THINK ...

*uses the stamp*

Got it! Even I'm not sure which detector the 2nd pic is from. ^_^;

Nice to have a partner IN SCIENCE!

totally random, but i was just raiding CERN's image archive for more pics of the LHC & I saw the source image for the second image in the stamp. its a simulated Higgs Boson at the CMS detector: [link]

The mystery has been solved!

actually I wouldn't be considered a partner in science or anything. i'm just randomly got obsessed with the LHC and related things last year after I had the most random idea to have the LHC involved in my NaNoWriMo.

I've seen the full picture of the 2nd pic. but I don't recall where.

Well, I'm technically not a scientist either. But any love of science is a good love!

You worked the LHC into your story? How? 8D

Eh. Well in my story, basically the LHC has magic and there is this girl who can work with it's magic.

I'm still editing the story to make it flow better and make more sense but some parts are already up on my DA page.

I think...

First one: the "paths" of the quarks (I don't know how to expres it in a correct english ^^u)

Second one: the "paths" (again ^^u) of the result of the collision of particles in a collider acelerator

Can I use it? ^^

Yes I think "paths" is a very good word. I'm not sure the 1st one is quarks, but I think they both resulted from a particle accelerator.

You are most welcome to use it! ^_^ Thanks for the fav!

You're welcome!

I've looked for it, and they are particles with charge paths'. These pictures are taken from cloud and bubble chambers.

"The whole chamber is subject to a constant magnetic field, which causes charged particles to travel in helical paths whose radius is determined by their charge-to-mass ratios."

I love it ^^

Oh right, that's how they tell the different particles apart. Each one will have a different radius.
I think they're searching for new quarks at CERN as we speak. It's all so exciting. :3

Quick question - how did you make the stamp to change images...I know it's an animated GIF, but what program did you use?

I believe it's called "Easy GIF Animator." It's only a trial though. I hear GIMP has a nifty animating tool. And it's free!

Let's see, here's the tutorial: [link]
But if you don't know how to use GIMP you should probably look at this one first: [link]

String theory rocks too!!

The last one looks like an image from the Hubble Space Telescope.

The first two, are they from the LHC?

I'm not sure what particle colliders those pictures are from. I basically did a Google image search of "physics" and "particle physics" and took the cool pictures. Actually I don't remember what the last picture is from either. XD

I'm not sure about string theory. However I find it slightly more plausible than dark matter. *hiss*

Thanks for the fav!

Actually, I'm not sure what the 3rd one is! XD An explosion of some sort!
The first two are the end results of particle accelerator experiments, AKA: particles smashing into each other really fast! Those are the trails of all the little particles that fly out.
Thanks for the favs too!

YES!!! Physics DOES rock! And is a big part of structural engineering...

Hmmm. The second picture is a 3D modeling representation of which direction particles will move, and the first one is a schematic drawing of... uh... the magnetic fields of planets and how they affect each other? It's small and it moves fast so...

Awesome stamp!

Actually I believe the first 2 pictures are the same general process. The first is in 2D while the 2nd is 3D. They're both pictures of particles colliding in accelerators.

Glad you like it! ^_^

Most of what I've seen on the NASA channel is boring meetings and maybe a static camera on some mission center when nothing's going on. Where did you find the interesting stuff?

I found the interesting stuff by being patient and waiting for the boring mission center to go offline. XD
